About
Our Story
Zero Waste Emporium was founded by Paula and Nairn McPhee as a result of their personal journey to reduce waste at home. Frustrated by the lack of resources, they created a one-stop shop for package-free groceries. With strong community support, the store was launched on Douglas Street, offering a wide range of products, including exclusive items like locally made yogurt on tap, vegan cheeses, and bulk frozen berries. Afterward, Anna Nyman took over and continued the tradition of providing a place for community members to shop for their grocery needs while minimizing waste and fostering a strong sense of community. The store is now under the ownership of Mike and Kris, who are preparing to transform it into a cooperative focused on serving the people and community in Greater Victoria.
